I have been having voice lessons with Henrik for 7 years. I never had voice lessons before. He is good at instructing and understanding how I feel on the day, and then we work from that point. We work both with the music itself and with the voice training, which is also extremely important. I always leave the lessons in a good mood and with a strong desire to continue working at home.
The work at Voice in Balance
Voice in Balance is primarily addressing singers who wants to fulfill the full potential of the voice on a serious level no matter the musical genre. By “full potential” means to be able to sing freely – like when you speak – and to able to express the words on the tones intended by the composer. The studies at Voice in Balance demands time and dedication and a great deal of humility towards the music.
The goal at Voice in Balance is that the singer reaches an understanding of how the human instrument functions so that the singer will always know how to use the voice and there by avoid future trouble.
Some singers and actors experience problems with the voice from time to time. These problems are a result of incorrect use of the voice over shorter or longer time. Voice in Balance can help regain the natural and relaxed speaking voice and at the same time achieve the knowledge that will prevent further voice issues.
There is no time limit on a study at Voice in Balance. Each singer has individual issues with the voice and the work will therefore be individual when it comes how to solve the problems and how long it will take.
About Henrik Elmer Matthiesen
Voice in Balance is a private voice studio foumded by Henrik Elmer Matthiesen. Henrik is an educated classical singer (bass) and choir leader from the conservatory in Esbjerg (DK) and from New Voice Studio Italia in Italy. Finally Henrik has a bachelor’s degree in musicology and history from the University of Aarhus. Henrik Elmer Matthiesen works as a voice teacher and choir leader and he sings recitals with the Russian pianist Gulnara Tanieva who lives and works in Denmark.. Derudover har Henrik studeret musikvidenskab og historie på Aarhus Universitet. Til daglig arbejder Henrik som sanglærer og korleder og synger derudover kammerkoncerter med den russiske pianist Gulnara Tanieva.
Højlandskoret (The Highland Choir) was founded in 2023 with Henrik Elmer Matthiesen as choir leader. Højlandskoret wants to sing classical choir music at the highest possible level with the emphasis on church music. There are 20-25 singers in Højlandskoret and we have always room for more singers who wants to can and wants to contribute to the choir. The choir practice in Østbirk outside Horsens.
